Community Support Worker

Cheshire Homes Society of BC regularly hires Casual Community Support Workers in the following areas: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Pitt Meadows, Mission, Langley, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Agassiz, Hope, Surrey, Delta, White Rock/South Surrey, New Westminster

We are currently looking for Community Support Workers (CSW) for the following client needs:

  • 1 CSW for Burnaby to support a deaf client recovering from an acquired brain injury - must be fluent in American Sign Language
  • 2 CSW's for the Tri-Cities Area (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody)
  • 1 CSW to support a client in Maple Ridge - This client requires a Male CSW
  • 1 CSW to support a client in Maple Ridge - must speak Punjabi
  • 2 CSW's for the Vancouver/Burnaby/New Westminster Area - 1 must have Saturday and Sunday availablilty

Job Summary:

In consultation with the Program Manager, the Community Support Worker provides life skills training and support services for persons with disabilities, including acquired brain injuries, regarding issues such as personal care and other aspects of daily living, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing and supporting a client to follow through with a weekly schedule with one or more brain injured clients living in the community. The Community Support Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population
  • Recent related experience in behaviour modification techniques
  • Current certification and documents in emergency first aid or equivalent and CPR level A
  • Relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Class 5 Driver's License
  • The use of a personal vehicle to drive to clients homes and drive clients to appointments and other outings.

Starting Wage: $23.27/hour

Hours: Potential work up to 40 hours/week based on client contracts
