Regular Community Support Worker - Vancouver & Burnaby (Wed-Sun)
Cheshire Homes Society of BC has an exciting opportunity for a Regular Community Support Worker in the Vancouver and Burnaby region.
The positions is a Permanent Regular Position with a minimum of 30 hours/week, and Health Benefits after probation. The successful applicant is required to be available Wednesday - Sunday from 8 am - 6 pm, and must be willing to travel to clients in both Vancouver and Burnaby.
Job Summary:
In consultation with the Program Manager, the Community Support Worker provides life skills training and support services for persons with disabilities, including acquired brain injuries, regarding issues such as personal care and other aspects of daily living, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing and supporting a client to follow through with a weekly schedule with one or more brain injured clients living in the community. The Community Support Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary.
Qualifications:
- Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population
- Recent related experience in behaviour modification techniques
- Current certification and documents in emergency first aid or equivalent and CPR level A
- Relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Class 5 Driver's License
- The use of a personal vehicle to drive to clients homes and drive clients to appointments and other outings.
Starting Wage: $23.27/hour
Hours: 30 to 40 hours/week based on client contracts
